2018/19. Waterworld.

Waterworld:

My latest series of work is like seeing the world through a wet window. I'm always looking at water from dry land and wondered what the world would look like other way around. These are figurative scenes and will be available as part of my next solo show in 2019.

I spend the past year painting the surfaces of polluted and industrial waterways. It looks just as pretty in the light as any other water. Mostly you see a scattered reflection of the terrestrial world with only brief views under the water surface.

I wondered what would happen if this same filter was imposed over the dry world. Would the scattered distortions of this ‘waterworld’ also provide a brief glimpse's into the deeper story? In that way I went from painting polluted waterways to relationships. Each painting tells a story of the lives of people around a park.
